The shorter, and continuously colder getting days remind us that winter has officially started. But are you prepared to face the cold mornings on your to work yet? Chances are that you are in need of some clothing accessories that will help you stay warm thought winter and prevent you from getting these season typical, nasty colds. One of the best ways to stay warm is by wearing a hat. If you are in need of a stylish winter hat to wear with your business attire, then the simple buying guide below will help you find the perfect one.
Comfort:
There is no point in buying a hat that you have to take off every few minutes to scratch yourself. Before buying the hat that you like, make sure to try it on. Is it comfortable? Does it itch? Leave it on for at least a few minutes to make sure that you like it. Comfort is the most important thing when buying a hat that is supposed to keep you warm.
Materials:
So-called Mohair Hats are in style this winter. Mohair is a silky textile produced from the Angora goat. It is a prefect material for winter hats since it is warm, durable, insulating, and lightweight. In addition, it also has moisture wicking properties that carry moisture away from your skin. The slight downside of Mohair hats is that they are often times somewhat itchy. For that reason, quality Mohair hats have a silk or cotton lining.
As a general rule, natural materials are preferred over synthetic ones. Synthetic, man-made materials are less "breathable" fabrics and will leave your head sweaty, which is actually much worse unless you want to catch a cold.
Styles:
The hat that you choose has to match your outfit and style. If a suit and tie is part of your daily attire, then choose a dressier hat that looks more like a Fedora than a ski hat. Make sure to try the hat on before you buy it and look in a mirror. The best time to go shopping is when you are dressed in your work clothes. This will give you an idea how the hat will compliment our style. A good time to go is right after work, or during lunch when stores are less crowded.
The Colors:
Black and gray colored hats will go with almost everything. If blue is your preferred color for the coat and/or your suit then a gray, or blue hat is better suited than a black one. Brown coats are better matched with hats in earth tones like tan, beige and shades of brown. Also, try to match your hat to other winter accessories like scarves, and gloves.
Buying a winter hat is not only a great idea for your own, but they will also make a great Christmas present. Good places to start your shopping are Banana Republic, Armani Exchange, and Nordstroms.
